Félix Paquet, former soloist with The National Ballet of Canada and The Hamburg Ballet, has always been captivated by the act of metamorphosis. His life has been a journey immersed in the art of transformation, propelled by an unyielding quest for reinvention—both on and off the stage. Throughout his accomplished dance career, he sought to become the most versatile dancer he could be, gracing the world’s grandest stages and collaborating with visionary choreographers. Revered for his sincerity, his ethereal yet grounded presence, and his unique, intuitive approach to movement, Paquet has etched a lasting impact on the world of dance.
Yearning to forge a life unbound by linearity, he made the bold choice to forge a new path—one that would lead him beyond the dance world, yet still remain within the embrace of art. In 2023, he stepped away from the art form that had shaped him, and been his very essence for much of his existence.
With a profound love for design and visual art, he ventured into the space between what was and what could be—the liminal space where endings and beginnings merge in the quiet of evolution. It was here, in this turbulent and humbling realm of rebirth, that he began to seek new meaning.
Paquet first touched clay in the early months of 2025. Instinctively, through self-guided exploration, he uncovered a new language of creation. What was once mere earth became a vessel of his creative evolution, offering not only growth but a deep sense of rootedness. The clay—echoing the deep connections he once made with dance partners—now holds the stories of his past, while shaping the future of his artistic journey.
Today, as a sculptural ceramicist, Paquet understands that creativity is an ever-flowing source, forever changing, forever unfolding. This passage has revealed to him that we are all, at our core, constantly evolving and transforming. He continues to embrace the unknown, ever driven by a desire to reinvent himself and immerse in new art forms and mediums, knowing that the pursuit of meaning and self-expression is boundless and eternal.
